Salary: £32,061 - £35,412 per annum

About the Role: We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Paralegal to join our growing legal team at Mid Sussex District Council on a fixed term, 6 month basis. This role is pivotal as we expand our legal services to better support our community and client departments. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality legal services, ensuring our operations comply with the law, and protecting the Council from legal challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and assist in the provision of legal advice and conduct casework on a wide range of matters.
  • Provide a high-quality legal service to client departments, enabling them to implement decisions within the law and protect the District Council against prosecution and challenge.
  • Undertake research and provide briefings on legal issues.
  • Prepare documents and court bundles.
  • Assist the Data Protection Officer in collating documents for disclosure.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Enrolled on a Qualifying Law Degree or other degree or have successfully completed two years of a Law Degree.
  • Basic understanding of the legal context of local government and how it is organised.
  • Experience of working in a legal practice or equivalent.
