Job description

My client are a collective rights management organisation who are seeking to appoint a paralegal to join their Content Integrity team.

This role is crucial in supporting their efforts to combat copyright infringement and streaming fraud across digital services.

In this small team, you will report into the General Counsel. The team work largely remotely, with numerous opportunities to build connectivity in-person at their central London offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key member of the cross-functional working group focused on identifying and analysing suspicious activity related to copyright infringement and streaming fraud.
  • Assist in quantifying the impact of fraudulent activity on royalty payments.
  • Manage communications with their members regarding content integrity issues.
  • Coordinate with their other departments to maintain member records and other internal databases.
  • Actively contribute toward improving processes and developing scalable solutions to ensure that the organisation is a global leader in content integrity.
  • Prepare and organise documentation for legal cases and communications with outside legal counsel.
  • Identify potential legal issues arising from investigations and reports.

Candidate requirements

  • Law degree, paralegal certification or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in using databases (such as Airtable) and spreadsheets (Excel, Sheets), as well as other commonly-used office software.
  • Industry experience in music, digital, financial services or with regulators is desirable but not essential.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with strong drafting, communication and problem-solving skills are key to this role.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage competing multiple projects and conflicting priorities to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, and to communicate confidently and clearly with internal stakeholders, digital music services, and member companies.
