SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
At the direction of the principal, assists teachers by performing tasks that promote student learning and well-being. Works individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction, monitor performance, and support learning. Performs instructional and classroom management supports, as well as clerical tasks to support teachers and staff in all classrooms or learning environments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and policies of Montgomery County Public Schools. Ability to assist with instructional implementation, monitor student behavior, exhibit patience, and work effectively with children, young adults, and staff. Effective communication skills, proficiency in English, and support for students with special needs. Knowledge of standard desktop hardware and software, including MS Office and database software. Ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: AA degree, Bachelor's preferred, or equivalent experience. Minimum of nine college credits related to education or two to four years working with students. Alternatively, 48 college credits plus two years in an education-related field, or two years' experience plus passing the ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher. Combinations of education, training, and experience that demonstrate the necessary skills may be considered.
