Job Description:

This position involves assisting teachers at Stephen Knolls School under the direction of the principal. The paraeducator performs various tasks to promote student learning and well-being, including working with students individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction, monitor performance, and support learning. Responsibilities also include classroom management and clerical tasks to support teachers and staff across all classrooms or learning environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and policies of Montgomery County Public Schools. Ability to assist with instructional implementation, monitor student behavior, exhibit patience, communicate effectively, support students with special needs, and use standard desktop software such as MS Office. Familiarity with the SSPGS core competencies is also required.

Education, Training, and Experience: Preference is given to candidates with an AA degree (Bachelor’s preferred), including coursework related to education, or equivalent experience working with children and adolescents. Specific requirements include a minimum of nine credit-hours in education-related courses or relevant experience, and successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher if applicable. Alternative combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
