Panels Layup Technician - Level 2

Are you hands-on, detail-focused, and ready to take your manufacturing skills to the next level? Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage is looking for a Panels Layup Technician (Level 2) to join our high-performing AIT Operations team. You'll be working on advanced composite panel assemblies used in some of the most exciting aerospace and defence projects in the world.

️ What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assembling and laminating aluminium composite panels to exacting standards
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and laminate manuals
  • Performing vacuum bagging, film adhesive bonding, and oven curing
  • Using hand tools, guillotines, and industrial machinery
  • Working with aluminium skins and honeycomb cores
  • Supporting continuous improvement and 5S practices
  • Collaborating with team leads and supporting trainees
  • Occasionally working off-site in the UK or abroad
What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • Experience in manual handling and using hand tools
  • Background in manufacturing or production environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
  • NVQ or relevant apprenticeship in a related field
  • Experience with carbon fibre materials

Desirable:

  • Laminating experience with aluminium
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with 3D viewing and assembly software
