Job summary

Nelson Recruitment is seeking an experienced Panel Wireman for a leading engineering and automation company. The role covers workshop-based panel wiring and field-based installation and commissioning across industrial and commercial projects.

You will read electrical drawings, wire control panels, fault-find, and support on-site installation while maintaining high quality and safety standards. A driving licence is desirable for field work.

Nelson Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and automation company for an experienced Panel Wireman to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical professional to work on a variety of exciting projects across industrial and commercial sectors. Opportunities are available for both workshop-based panel wiring and field-based installation and commissioning support, making this an ideal role for candidates looking to develop their career within the controls and automation industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and wire electrical control panels from engineering drawings and schematics.
• Install, terminate, and test electrical components and control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Carry out inspections, fault-finding, and quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Support panel modifications, upgrades, and repairs as required.
• Assist with on-site installation, testing, and commissioning activities when required.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues promptly.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Panel Wireman, Electrical Fitter, Control Panel Builder, or similar role.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience wiring control panels and industrial electrical equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant electrical qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent are advantageous.
• Full UK Driving Licence is desirable, particularly for field-based positions.
