About the role

To complete all body work, including stripping and refitting trim and panel interior. Refitting new / repaired panels and repairing small dents and minor body work for accident damaged vehicles.

Key responsibilities

1. Ensure customer satisfaction in the repair of motor vehicles of all types.
2. Carry out such work in a safe and economical manner.
3. Employ such knowledge and skills as may be required to restore vehicles to an acceptable standard.
4. Observe, recognise and report on vehicle body damage.
5. Interpret and implement technical instruction data.
6. Indent for replacement parts and record usage.
7. Repair and panel damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition in accordance with approved Repair Methodology and manufacturers standards.
8. Use specialist body repair equipment – measuring equipment, body jigs, welding equipment and smart repair tools.
9. Ensure that vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to customers, or that faults have been reported and noted on job card.
10. Keep work area clean and tidy and free from hazards.
11. Liaise with estimating, parts and line manager to discuss repair process and completion dates.
12. Attain manufacturers' and/or estimated repair/paint times.
13. Report all faults, defects noticed whilst working on vehicles.
14. Accurately report all components, materials and consumables used.
15. Protect customers vehicles with covers and dust sheets etc.
16. Safeguard the customers' vehicle and contents whilst being repaired.
17. Ensure that all work carried out meets acceptable safety and quality standards.
18. All company repair/paint times to be achieved.
19. All hours, components, materials and consumables used recorded.
20. Wastage of materials not to exceed target set by Manager for period.
21. No customer vehicle or contents to be damaged/lost while vehicles under repair.

Skills and experience

1. ATA / NVQ level 3 Panel Technician.
2. Good Communication skills.
3. Good Decision Making/Problem solving skills.
4. Good H&S knowledge/awareness and compliance.
5. Time served repair technician.
6. Good time management skills.
7. Relevant industry experience.
