About the role

To complete all body work, including stripping and refitting trim and panel interior. Refitting new / repaired panels and repairing small dents and minor body work for accident damaged vehicles.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction in the repair of motor vehicles of all types.
  • Carry out such work in a safe and economical manner.
  • Employ such knowledge and skills as may be required to restore vehicles to an acceptable standard.
  • Observe, recognise and report on vehicle body damage.
  • Interpret and implement technical instruction data.
  • Indent for replacement parts and record usage.
  • Repair and panel damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition in accordance with approved Repair Methodology and manufacturers standards.
  • Use specialist body repair equipment – measuring equipment, body jigs, welding equipment and smart repair tools.
  • Ensure that vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to customers, or that faults have been reported and noted on job card.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy and free from hazards.
  • Liaise with estimating, parts and line manager to discuss repair process and completion dates.
  • Attain manufacturers' and/or estimated repair/paint times.
  • Report all faults, defects noticed whilst working on vehicles.
  • Accurately report all components, materials and consumables used.
  • Protect customers vehicles with covers and dust sheets etc.
  • Safeguard the customers' vehicle and contents whilst being repaired.
  • Ensure that all work carried out meets acceptable safety and quality standards.
  • All company repair/paint times to be achieved.
  • All hours, components, materials and consumables used recorded.
  • Wastage of materials not to exceed target set by Manager for period.
  • No customer vehicle or contents to be damaged/lost while vehicles under repair.

Skills and experience

  • Good H&S knowledge/awareness and compliance.
  • Time served repair technician.
  • Relevant industry experience.
