The Panel MET Technician Role

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Ensure the repair of motor vehicles of all types is carried out according to motor manufacturer industry standards or repair methods.
  • Perform work efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively, maintaining the vehicle's quality and safety.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to restore vehicles to industry-recognized standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Observe, recognize, and report on vehicle structure and paintwork.
  • Ensure vehicles meet safety standards upon return to customers, reporting faults on the job card.
  • Remove and safely store vehicle components, fluids, and gases as directed by work orders.
  • Remove and dispose of vehicle components and fluids safely, following work orders.
  • Conduct quality control of all repairs and sign off at the final stage.
  • Report any faults or defects noticed during work that were not apparent before dismantling.
  • Ensure repair methods are documented, understood, and displayed with the vehicle at all times.
  • Sign off the QC section of the Repair Inspection sheet at relevant repair stages.
  • Perform panel alignment and work on adjacent components.
  • Carry out filler repairs, finishing correctly in P180, and check for pinholes.
  • Complete underseal, weld-through primers, and anti-corrosion measures before proceeding.
  • Strip and refit components as necessary, including adjustments and panel alignments.
  • Report any defects or damage associated with the job that are not scheduled for repair.
