Job Description:

The Volkswagen Group UK National Learning Centre is the UK’s largest automotive training facility, located in Milton Keynes. It hosts the Group’s training operations, developing a base of 26,000 retailer learners in the UK. Calex supplies learning services in partnership with Volkswagen Group UK.

The role:

The Panel and MET Technical Trainer role offers an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team, developing skills and knowledge. It is suitable for MET (Mechanical, Electrical, Trim)/Senior MET or Panel Technicians seeking career progression, or automotive technicians aiming to move into training.

Working in modern environments with the latest technology, the successful candidate will deliver engaging training programs, assessments, and contribute to course development and content design.

We are looking for an individual who is:

  • Curious, proactive in problem-solving, and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Motivational and engaging to learners and team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver core Panel and MET content, systems, and project-based training.
  • Create engaging, learner-focused training solutions.
  • Align training with VWG and individual brand requirements.
  • Utilize technology such as e-learning, virtual classrooms, and digital solutions.
  • Develop content for new Model Launches.
  • Perform all tasks to set standards and within deadlines.
  • Complete administrative tasks promptly.

About You:

  • Experience in automotive retail or body repair (Essential).
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and self-motivated.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving targets.
  • Numerate, logical, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
  • Capable of managing workload and inspiring others.
  • Knowledge of learning theories, including technological trends.
  • Experience with e-learning, virtual classrooms, video, and social media in training.
  • Personable with technical knowledge imparting skills.
  • Team player with initiative.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Salary & Benefits:

  • £37,000 starting salary, with increases upon successful probation.
  • Up to £39,270 for Service Trainer, up to £40,290 for Diagnostic Trainer, up to £42,000 for Senior Trainer, up to £43,860 for Master Trainer.
  • Car allowance of £3,942 per year.
  • 25 days paid annual leave, plus employee benefits including discounts, online GP, and welfare schemes.

Pre-employment checks include references, ID, driving license (if applicable), right to work, and possibly a DBS check.

The successful candidate will be employed by Calex UK, a specialist automotive training provider, working at the VWG National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes, with potential for work at other locations.
