Job summary

The Hospice in Denny, Central Scotland, seeks Consultants in Palliative Medicine to join their team. The role is based at a 24-bed hospice with 350 annual admissions, offering a competitive NHS-aligned salary and a relocation package.

Full-time is four days per week with participation in an on-call rota (2nd on-call) and 6–8 sessions weekly. Relocation support and a generous pension are included; £500 referral bonus available for successful referrals.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration or eligibility for GMC Specialist Register in Palliative Medicine.
• Experience across a wide range of Palliative Care settings.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist palliative medicine care in a 24-bed hospice.
• Participate in the on-call rota (second on-call) with an 8% allowance.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, chaplains and support staff.
• Contribute to ongoing education, research and quality improvement within the hospice.

Job description

Applications are invited from Consultants in Palliative Medicine to join the team based at their Hospice in Denny in beautiful Stirlingshire, Scotland. The Hospice is situated in Central Scotland with easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as many beautiful rural areas and the Trossachs National park. The Hospice is a 24-bedded inpatient facility supporting 350 admissions a year with a larger Hospice at Home and Community service. The Medical team comprises four Consultants including a Medical Director, six speciality Doctors and one trainee The salary range is £115,430 to £148,064, pro-rata for part-time. Full-time is four days per week which includes participation in the on-call rota (2nd on-call only) for which there is an 8% allowance.6 – 8 sessions per week (additional 2 sessions paid per week for 1 in 5 on-call commitment). Established in 1981, this is an established charity and one of the largest Hospices in Scotland. Covering a similar area and supported by the local NHS Trustsupporting people and families across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth living with serious illness to live well, die well and make every moment count. Their specialist team includes nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, ocupational therapists therapists, pharmacists, chaplains, patient and family support and creative arts facilitators - working together to provide compassionate, person-centred care. The Hospice is the sole provider of community, in-patient and hospital specialist medical palliative care services in their catchment area and have an established reputation as an independent Hospice with excellence in clinical practice, research and education. They also champion services like Hospice @ Home and an innovative Community Development Team.

Person requirements

• Full registration with the UK GMC
• Be on or eligible within six months for inclusion on the GMC Specialist register for Palliative medicine
• Experience in a wide range of Palliative Care settings
• To hold a full driving licence
