Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated Band 6 Associate Specialist Palliative Care Nurse to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team on a full-time, permanent basis. You may work across the service as needed and access to a car is required for work purposes.

We operate seven days a week in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment providing expert palliative care, end-of-life support and education.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with active NMC registration.
• Oncology/Palliative qualification (20 credits at 1st degree level) or equivalent experience.
• Teaching or mentorship qualification and/or experience in teaching.
• V300 prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake.
• Evidence of recent study in last 2 years.
• Experience in palliative care is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based specialist palliative care, advice and support to patients and families.
• Manage a caseload of patients with specialist palliative care needs; assess, plan and implement care.
• Organise and manage workload to meet patient needs.
• Ensure referrals to health care workers when intervention is complete.
• Collaborate with multi-professional teams across health economy/ICS.
• Maintain accurate electronic patient records and communicate updates to the MDT.
• Collect and collate statistics as required by professional and organisational standards.
• Act as a core member of the palliative care MDT for complex cases; participate in audits, education and research.
• Provide education and training to team members as required.
• Work towards V300 qualification.
