Job summary

Liebherr Great Britain is seeking a Fixed-Term Paintshop Operative to join our Biggleswade depot. You will support the Paint Shop operation delivering high-quality workmanship with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include preparing and painting using spray equipment and brushes on commercial vehicles, plant machinery, structures and components, and ensuring accurate documentation. Travel to off-site locations and occasional shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• Able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role.
• A strong background in automotive or commercial spraying.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge of the latest paint technology and application techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and carry out painting using spray equipment as well as manual brush/roll methods on commercial vehicles, plant machinery, structures and components.
• Prepare and carry out all aspects of preparation (de-greasing, masking, flatting, filler repairs) to exacting specifications.
• Complete all documentation related to work activities accurately and timely.
• Travel to off-site locations for paint shop activities, promotional work or training; travel overseas may be required.
• Collaborative team-working within the department with possible extended or shift hours.
• Minimise commercial risks when dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Adhere to Safety, Quality, Environmental, Financial and Operational policies; follow procedures.
• Pursue self-development and continually improve technical skills.

Job description

Liebherr Great Britain is currently recruiting for a Fixed-Term Paintshop Operative to join our depot in Biggleswade.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the Paint Shop operation, helping to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction through high-quality workmanship and attention to detail. You will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive working environment while ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards.

Your Role

• To prepare and carry out all aspects of painting using the latest spray equipment as well as manual brush and roll paint methods to all types of commercial vehicles, plant machinery, structures and components and mobile cranes, using compliant two-pack primers and topcoats.
• To prepare and carry out all aspects of preparation to all types of commercial vehicles and plant machinery, structures and components. This to include de-greasing, masking, flatting and basic filler repairs and corrosion removal as necessary as well as preparation (using both mechanical and manual methods and equipment, orbital sanders, needle-guns and abrasive tools) to exacting specifications in accordance with quality and production standards.
• All documentation relating to the work activities must be completed fully, accurately and in a timely manner.
• Travelling to off‑site locations as may be requested from time to time to undertake paint shop related activities, promotional work or training. This might also involve travel overseas.
• Collaborative team‑working within the department which may include additional extended working hours or shift working from time to time.
• To ensure as far as possible that any commercial risks to the company are eliminated when dealing with customers and suppliers.
• In all activities to ensure that the Safety, Quality, Environmental, Financial and Operational policies of the company are adhered to and promoted, and that company procedures, both operational and administrative, are maintained.
• Takes responsibility for self‑development and continually identifies ways of improving technical skills.

Your Profile

• Able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role and / or industry
• A strong background in automotive or commercial spraying in environments where quality outputs are considered essential.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge of the latest paint technology and application techniques.
