Job summary
Mears Group in Exeter is seeking a skilled painter & decorator to deliver high-quality repairs, maintenance and refurbishment across our housing portfolio. You will paint internal walls, ceilings, doors and woodwork, and support kitchen and bathroom upgrades in occupied and void properties.
The role requires proven painting experience, damp and mould treatment skills, a City & Guilds in Painting & Decorating or equivalent, and a full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in painting and decorating
- Experience carrying out damp and mould treatments
- City & Guilds qualification in Painting & Decorating or equivalent trade qualification
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work safely and independently while maintaining high standards
- Desirable: Plastering qualifications
Responsibilities
- Preparing and painting internal walls, ceilings, doors and woodwork
- Applying emulsion, gloss and specialist finish to a high standard
- Carrying out damp and mould treatments
- Stripping wallpaper and preparing surfaces for decoration
- Completing snagging and touch-up work following other trades
- Supporting void property refurbishments and reactive maintenance tasks
- Maintaining tools, equipment and company vehicle to a high standard
- Accurately completing job records and associated documentation
- Communicating professionally with tenants, clients and colleagues
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations
- Working flexibly to meet service demands and deadlines
