Job summary

A prominent housing association is seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to join their Property Team in Dorset. The ideal candidate will have an NVQ level 2 in Painting & Decorating or 5 years of experience and will handle all tasks related to painting and decorating in refurbishments. Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ level 2 in Painting & Decorating or 5 years of experience.
  • Experience of working in occupied premises.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs and decoration in bathroom and kitchen refurbishments.
  • Measure surface areas for paint and wall coverings.
  • Prepare surfaces for decoration by filling holes and cracks.
  • Apply multiple layers of paint and hang wallpaper.
  • Perform basic plastering, tiling, and general maintenance tasks.

What you'll be doing

As a Multi skilled Painter/Decorator you will mainly carry out all forms of repairs and decoration in our planned bathroom and kitchen refurbishments, and elsewhere in accordance with work schedules.

Tasks to include:

  • Measuring surface areas to work out how much paint or wall covering is required.
  • Stripping off old wallpaper or paint.
  • Filling holes and cracks and making sure surfaces are rubbed back and prepared to a high standard before decorating.
  • Preparing surfaces including timber with primer and undercoat.
  • Applying multiple layers of paint to differing substrates and materials and hanging wallpaper.
  • Other duties to include some basic plastering, tiling and other general maintenance tasks.

What you'll need

  • You should have a minimum of NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Painting & Decorating OR have at least 5 years experience within this core trade.
  • You will have basic plastering and tiling knowledge and experience of delivering these aspects.
  • You will have experience of working in occupied premises and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Have a strong health and safety mindset with knowledge of health & safety best practices.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team as well as under your own initiative.
  • This is a full time role, so you must be available to work 40 Hours per week.
  • Due to the requirement to travel, you must hold a full and current driving licence with a minimum of 1 years experience and have the ability to drive and take home a company van.
