Job Overview

The Operational Estates department at Ysbyty Gwynedd is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Painter and Decorator to assist with the maintenance of the Health Board’s hospitals, clinics, and surgeries. This opportunity offers experience working within a large healthcare estate.

You should have qualifications and/or previous experience in painting and decorating. The role involves assisting with property maintenance across the West region.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work across various departments, mainly supporting the Mental Health and Learning Disability departments at the West sites. Responsibilities include:

• Preparation of internal and external paint surfaces.
• Minor plasterwork repairs.
• Room clearance and moving heavy furniture and equipment.
• Re-glazing and making good with putty, mastics, and glazing compounds.
• Line marking of roadways and flooring, including stencil road markings, lines, and symbols using spray line and traffic paint.

The candidate should have completed a recognized apprenticeship in painting and decorating, holding a C&G Craft Certificate or NVQ Level 3, or demonstrate equivalent experience.

Reporting to the Building Maintenance Team Leader, the role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The annual leave allowance varies with service length, from 28 to 34 days plus 8 Bank Holidays.
