The Role

This position will require travel across multiple locations, so a driving license and access to a vehicle will be essential. The post holder will be based out of our St Elphins village in Matlock but you will also be covering our other sites in Ilkley, Edgbaston, and Leamington Spa.

About Audley Retirement Villages

Audley retirement villages are set in unique locations where our village owners can retire in a peaceful and lavish setting. The villages comprise owners who reside on-site within their own private homes and pay a management fee for upkeep and access to services. The village also hosts external customers, and this role is responsible for providing a first-class, positive experience for both.

Role Overview

As a Painter and Decorator reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will maintain the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our retirement villages across a designated area. Your responsibilities include executing painting and decorating tasks to enhance the living environment for owners and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive and reactive painting and decorating services under the guidance of the Facilities Manager.
  • Repair surfaces of walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and windows both inside and outside the properties.
  • Develop detailed painting plans, outlining work scope, methods, and materials for a professional finish.
  • Create and maintain a painting schedule for each village area.
  • Address decorative maintenance issues promptly, including touch-ups and repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure surfaces are in good condition.
  • Interact diplomatically and empathetically with owners both around the village and within their homes.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and requisition additional items as needed.
  • Uphold high standards and document work with before-and-after photos.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring safety for all.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Grounds teams and support them as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Follow health and safety regulations during all tasks.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet schedule demands.
Key Skills & Requirements
  • Proven experience in painting, decorating, and wallpapering.
  • Experience in a five-star or high-quality environment is advantageous.
  • Dependable, punctual, with a strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Formal training or certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Competence in using access equipment.
  • Willingness to work at heights, indoors, and outdoors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
