Job summary

Apex Resource Management Ltd in Oldbury is seeking an experienced Paint Technician to join a specialist coatings and manufacturing environment. The role covers preparation, painting, polishing and finishing of plastic and carbon fibre components for high-specification projects.

You can work on Day or Night shifts, with permanent contract and 37.5–38 hours per week. Emphasis on quality, attention to detail, and collaboration with production and quality teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive or specialist coatings environments.
  • Experience spraying automotive components, prototypes or refinishing work.
  • Strong preparation, paint and polishing process knowledge.
  • Ability to deliver high cosmetic standards on components.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Surface preparation of plastic and carbon fibre components.
  • Carry out primer, base coat and lacquer application.
  • Complete polishing and finishing activities to high cosmetic standards.
  • Inspect painted components to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards in the paint area.
  • Work collaboratively with production and quality teams.
  • Support continuous improvement activities.

Paint Technician

Location: Oldbury

Permanent

Salary: £39,000 - £43,000 per annum depending on experience and shift

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Paint Technician to join a specialist coatings and manufacturing environment in Oldbury. We are seeking an experienced professional for either day or the night shift, supporting automotive and high-specification projects involving high-quality painted components, carbon fibre substrates, and specialist finishes.

The successful Paint Technician will support the preparation, painting, polishing, and finishing of specialist components, including plastic and carbon fibre. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-specification projects where quality and attention to detail are key.

Working hours: Either shift available:
Day Shift (37.5 hours per week)

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 4:45pm

Friday: 8:00am - 1:30pm

Night Shift (38 hours per week)

Monday - Thursday: 2:00pm - 12:00am

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Surface preparation of plastic and carbon fibre components
  • Carry out primer, base coat and lacquer application
  • Complete polishing and finishing activities to high cosmetic standards
  • Inspect painted components to ensure quality standards are achieved
  • Support production requirements within a fast-paced manufacturing environmentMaintain high housekeeping and safety standards within the paint area
  • Work collaboratively with production and quality teams
  • Support continuous improvement activities
The Ideal Paint Technician:
  • Previous experience within an automotive or specialist coatings environment
  • Experience spraying automotive components, prototypes, show vehicles or refinishing work
  • Experience working with plastics and carbon fibre materials
  • Strong experience within preparation, paint and polishing processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
