We have a new opportunity to be part of our Model Operations team in the role of Paint Technician.

As a Paint Technician, you’ll be responsible for preparing and applying high-quality paint finishes to a variety of components used across our model build and engineering programmes. Working in a fast-paced and precision-driven environment, you will use your technical knowledge and keen eye for detail to ensure all parts meet the visual and performance standards required by our team.

You will play a key role in supporting critical production deadlines, maintaining strict health and safety compliance, and contributing to the overall success of the Model Operations department.

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, masking, priming, painting, and finishing high-performance components in line with precise specifications and visual standards.
  • Operating and maintaining spray booths, paint mixing areas, and all associated equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Working with a range of substrates including plastics, composites, and metals.
  • Performing all necessary surface preparation processes including sanding, sealing, and polishing.
  • Ensuring consistent paint application and flawless finishes across all components.
  • Accurately documenting work completed, materials used, and any quality issues.
  • Collaborating with the wider Model Operations and Model Build teams to meet production timelines.
  • Maintaining clean, organised, and compliant workspaces, ensuring adherence to H&S procedures at all times.
  • Actively identifying and supporting process improvements to enhance paint quality and operational efficiency.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Strong demonstrable experience in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing paint processes.
  • Proven knowledge of paint systems including solvent-based, water-based, and 2K finishes.
  • Skilled in colour matching, paint mixing, and various surface preparation techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a clear pride in delivering immaculate finishes.
  • Understanding of technical drawings, process instructions, and visual quality standards.
  • Proactive, organised, and calm under pressure, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and support time-critical projects.
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative, can-do attitude and professional approach.
  • Positive, self-motivated, and open to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Experience painting high-visibility or high-precision components.
  • Familiarity with model build and motorsport environments.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
