Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Vehicle Paint Sprayer to support the refurbishment of military vehicles at Bovington, near Richmond, North Yorkshire. You will apply coatings, prepare surfaces and ensure finishes meet high safety and durability standards.

Based on site, you will join a skilled team, operate spray equipment, and follow strict quality procedures. A SC security clearance is required, and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in spray painting, industrial painting, surface preparation or coating application.
• Valid Full UK Driving Licence.
• No formal paint spraying qualification required; training and certification will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle and equipment surfaces through masking, washing, blasting, filling, and sanding activities.
• Apply coatings through spray painting techniques to meet quality and finish standards.
• Clean surfaces using degreasers and other appropriate agents to ensure paint readiness.
• Complete patch painting and rolling activities where required.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality throughout the refurbishment process.

The role

As a Vehicle Paint Sprayer, you'll play a vital role in supporting the refurbishment of military vehicles and equipment that help protect national security. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your specialist paint spraying skills in a unique engineering environment, where your work is highly visible and directly contributes to the quality, performance, and presentation of critical defence assets. You'll be part of a skilled team, developing your expertise while supporting projects that make a real difference.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

• Prepare vehicle and equipment surfaces through masking, washing, blasting, filling, and sanding activities
• Apply coatings through spray painting techniques to meet quality and finish standards
• Clean surfaces using degreasers and other appropriate agents to ensure paint readiness
• Complete patch painting and rolling activities where required
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality throughout the refurbishment process

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

The role is based onsite at Catterick, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Paint Sprayer:

• Experience in spray painting, industrial painting, surface preparation or coating application
• Valid Full UK Driving Licence

Qualifications for the Paint Sprayer:

No formal paint spraying qualification is required. Training and certification will be provided for the successful candidate
