Job summary

Manpower UK seeks experienced Automotive Paint Sprayers for a temporary, full-time role at a luxury automotive facility in Barry. You will apply premium paint finishes to vehicles, perform surface preparation and spray gun operation, and ensure high-quality finishes in line with manufacturing standards.

The role requires attention to detail and prior experience in automotive refinishing or a related production environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Automotive Paint Sprayer in manufacturing or body shop environments.
• Strong understanding of paint shop processes and spray booth operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and a passion for high-quality finishes.
• Normal colour vision is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Apply premium paint finishes to vehicles meeting exacting manufacturing standards.
• Prepare vehicle bodies using etch primer, primer, base coat and clear coat.
• Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure a flawless finish while upholding safety standards.
• Prepare vehicles for paint by degreasing, tacking off and applying adhesion promoters.
• Work with technicians and teams to achieve production targets and provide support as needed.

Working on an ongoing basis, the successful candidate will apply premium paint finishes to vehicles, ensuring each meets exacting manufacturing standards. Key duties include surface preparation, spray gun operation and final quality inspection. Applicants should demonstrate precision, attention to detail and prior experience within automotive refinishing or a similar production setting.

Location: St Athan, Barry. Job Type: Full‑time, Temporary Ongoing. Pay Rate: £25.44 per hour. The position offers an hourly rate of up to £20.35, with the contract running on a temporary ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

• Apply premium paint finishes to vehicles ensuring each meets exacting manufacturing standards.
• Prepare vehicle bodies using etch primer, primer, base coat and clear coat.
• Ensure each vehicle receives a flawless finish while maintaining strict quality, safety and production standards.
• Prepare vehicles for paint process through degreasing, tacking off and applying adhesion promoters.
• Inspect surfaces for defects prior to paint application.
• Apply coatings using hand‑spraying techniques and identify contaminants or imperfections.
• Work closely with technicians, team leaders and other departments to achieve production targets.
• Provide support to preparation and polishing teams when required.
• Key duties include surface preparation, spray gun operation and final quality inspection.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Automotive Paint Sprayer, Vehicle Painter or Paint Technician within a manufacturing, body shop or automotive environment.
• Strong understanding of paint shop processes, spray booth operations and automotive refinishing techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and a passion for delivering consistently high‑quality results.
• Normal colour vision is essential due to the nature of the role.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications in vehicle paint, body repair or refinishing would be advantageous, including City andamp; Guilds, BTEC, IMI or equivalent automotive certifications, although these are not essential for candidates with relevant industry experience.
