Apex Resource Management is seeking an experienced Paint Prep Team Leader for a prestigious automotive project near Daventry. You will lead a skilled team to ensure vehicle bodies are paint-ready on time, coordinating with Body and Paint to maintain workflow and high-quality standards.

Ideal candidates have hands-on vehicle preparation experience in automotive environments, with strong leadership and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience as Leader, Paint Prep Supervisor or Lead Prep Technician.
• Hands-on vehicle preparation to a high cosmetic standard.
• Background in automotive manufacturing or related sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead Vehicle Preparation - coordinate components and prep to be paint-ready on schedule.
• Manage Build Kits - ensure kits are complete and aligned to production.
• Drive Daily Performance - lead daily team meetings and set priorities.
• Coordinate Across Departments - work with Body and Paint to keep workflow smooth.
• Champion Quality - perform vehicle buy-off inspections and uphold standards.
• Lead from the Front - provide hands-on leadership and coaching.
• Resolve Production Challenges - identify shortages and quality concerns early.
• Deliver Production Targets - support daily and weekly build requirements.
• Promote Safety & Excellence - maintain 5S, Health & Safety, PPE, COSHH.
• Plan & Organise Resources - assist with planning and resource management.
• Maintain Control & Traceability - keep records of parts, checks and sign-offs.

Working within a low-volume, high-quality automotive manufacturing environment, you will lead a skilled preparation team responsible for ensuring vehicle bodies and components are delivered to paint on time and to exacting standards. Key Responsibilities of the Paint Prep Team Leader

• Lead Vehicle Preparation - Coordinate vehicle components and preparation activities to ensure vehicles are paint-ready on time and to standard.
• Manage Build Kits - Ensure all vehicle kits are complete, organised and aligned to the production schedule.
• Drive Daily Performance - Lead daily team meetings, setting priorities and keeping production on track.
• Coordinate Across Departments - Work closely with Body and Paint teams to maintain workflow and resolve issues quickly.
• Champion Quality - Carry out vehicle buy-off inspections and take ownership of preparation quality standards.
• Lead from the Front - Provide hands-on technical leadership, coaching the team and setting high standards.
• Resolve Production Challenges - Identify and escalates shortages, quality concerns and delivery risks before they impact output.
• Deliver Production Targets - Set clear objectives and support the team to achieve daily and weekly build requirements.
• Promote Safety & Excellence - Maintain 5S, Health & Safety, PPE, COSHH and environmental compliance standards.
• Plan & Organise Resources - Support build schedules through effective planning, communication and resource management.
• Maintain Control & Traceability - Keep accurate records of parts, consumables, quality checks and vehicle sign-off activities.

The Ideal Paint Prep Team Leader

• Previous experience as a Leader, Paint Prep Supervisor, or Lead Prep Technician.
• Strong hands-on experience preparing vehicles to a high cosmetic standard.
• Background within automotive manufacturing, vehicle restoration, prestige vehicles, coachbuilding or Bodyshop environments.
• Experience coordinating workloads, parts, materials and production schedules.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team while remaining hands-on.
• Strong understanding of quality standards, H&S, COSHH and PPE requirements.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
