Paint Chemist

A leading paint manufacturer has an immediate requirement for an experienced Paint Chemist to join their team at this office near Manchester.

Salary: Circa £35,000 benefits

Location: Manchester, M12 5ED

It is essential that you have previous experience as a Paint Chemist, ideally working with decorative paints.

As a Paint Chemist, you will be a key member of the research and development team, focusing on improvement, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, evaluation of products, sourcing and testing raw materials, manufacturing procedures, test procedures, quality systems, R&D systems, and documentation.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Planning a pilot plant and scaling up products from laboratory trials to production.
  2. Developing new formulations and producing samples.
  3. Assisting in routine operations at the R&D Laboratory.
  4. Analyzing and evaluating raw materials and competitor products.
  5. Investigating and improving products and manufacturing processes, and assisting with their implementation.
  6. Investigating and solving problems in production, laboratory, and the field, making recommendations to the Technical Manager, and liaising with staff to resolve issues.
  7. Developing research understanding, producing reports (verbal and written) for the Technical Director, and communicating research results.
  8. Supporting all provisions of the Quality System relevant to this position.
  9. Color matching and quality control of color collateral would be advantageous.
