Job summary

Athona Limited is seeking a Consultant in Pain Medicine to join a specialist clinical service providing assessments and treatment options for patients living with chronic pain. The role combines on-site work in Bishop’s Stortford with remote assessments and potential hybrid options.

The successful candidate will hold Full GMC registration with a licence to practise, Specialist Register status, and a valid CD PIN.

Responsibilities

• Conduct specialist assessments for patients experiencing chronic and complex pain.
• Review patients’ medical histories, previous treatments, medications and clinical documentation.
• Assess suitability for cannabis-based products for medicinal use where appropriate.
• Make evidence-based prescribing decisions within professional competence and relevant clinical guidance.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to prescribing, consent and governance requirements.

Job description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant in Pain Medicine to join a specialist clinical service providing assessments and treatment options for patients living with chronic pain. The service considers cannabis-based products for medicinal use (CBPMs), where clinically appropriate, offering an opportunity to work within a developing area of specialist medicine.

This is a ongoing position combining – whilst patients will be assessed remotely you will be based on site in order to facilitate speed of prescribing & dispensing. Hybrid working may be considered.

For this role you will require a CD Pin and supply of blank FP10’s.

Salary: Competitive annual salary, dependant on experience

Hours: Minimum of 4 days per week

Setting: Specialist Pain Management / Cannabis-Based Medicines

Location: Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, near Stansted Airport
