Head of SalesABB’s Energy Industries business is seeking a commercially minded leader to manage a high-performing team of Account and Market Managers. The role combines line management responsibilities with strategic account and market development, supporting ABB’s delivery of innovative solutions across Automation, Electrical, Telecommunications, and Digital sectors.
Key duties include staffing and guiding market strategies, leading account development initiatives, and producing high-quality market analysis and customer insights. The role requires strong collaboration with sales, technical, operations, and commercial teams to ensure seamless support for both existing and future customers.

Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

As an ABB line manager, you are responsible for ensuring your team operates safely, ethically, and is actively engaged in market and customer initiatives. Key duties include maintaining oversight through regular performance reviews, and effectively organising, staffing, and leading your area to develop and motivate team members toward achieving business goals. . This role will further be accountable for:
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in account plan development and perform reviews to implement lessons learned.
• Market Development: Collaborate with Service and Sales teams to develop market strategies, identify synergies, and align with market trends and key customers.
• Future Vision and Long-Term Planning: Provide strategic outlook and planning, advise on key decisions, and develop partnerships to ensure market positioning.
• Customer Focus and Market Development: Focus on understanding and meeting customer needs, developing key customers, and maintaining a customer-centric approach.
• Energy Transition and Innovation: Drive energy transition, explore new markets, seek partnerships, and support sales with innovative contract models and early engagement.
Qualifications for the Role
• Experience: You will have proven experience successfully leading and managing market and account development initiatives, preferably within the Automation, Electrical, Telecommunications, or Digital sectors. Experience in the Oil and Gas, Power Generation, new energies, or other Energy sectors is highly desirable.
• Expertise: You will be a subject matter expert in at least one of the following: market analysis, account management processes, commercial agreements, customer relationship management, costing model calculations, project execution risk management, or technical execution for automation, electrical, or telecoms projects.
• Communication Skills: You will require strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to exude commercial and contractual competence when customer-facing, including a professional “can-do” attitude, and attention to detail.
• Motivation and Organization: You must be a highly motivated individual who can plan their time, priorities, and tasks effectively. You must be able to multitask and still meet deadlines within your area of responsibility.
• Change Management: You must be able to identify, agree, and implement change.
• Leadership: Some previous line management experience is preferable.
• Language Proficiency: You will be fluent in English.
