We have an exciting opportunity for experienced and enthusiasticPaediatric Staff Nursesto join our supportive, dynamic, and forward-thinking team in thePaediatric Emergency DepartmentatFrimley Park Hospital.

Our department sees approximately30,000 children annually, aged 0–17 years, presenting with a wide range of conditions from minor injuries and illnesses to major trauma and resuscitation.Patient safety and high-quality, child-centred care areat the heart of everything we do.

You will be supported by adedicated Practice Development Leadand a structuredStaff Nurse Development Programme, helping you build key emergency nursing skills.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a team of nurses, health care assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team and be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating of nursing care.

The fast-paced environment of Paediatrics ED means our staff have to be adaptable in adjusting their priorities to patient and departmental needs which can change rapidly. We are looking for motivated and flexible nurses that are able to adapt to this ever-changing environment, whilst keeping patient safety and compassion at the forefront of everything they do.

In conjunction with the nurse in charge, be responsible for an identified area of clinical practice within the Children's Emergency Department Assess, formulate and evaluate practice based programmes for children and young people in conjunction with their families and supervise the junior members of staff with their programmes of care Maintain a learning environment enabling student nurses and NQN's to achieve their learning objectives Act as a role model to all staff within the Children's Emergency Department Act as a resource for the Emergency Department for child protection issues Participate in the induction of all new staff Maintain own continuous professional development Any other duties, which may be requested by the manager, to facilitate a smooth running of the department
