The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute tothe clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise and knowledge demonstrating a sound understanding of supporting CYP and families with Oncology/Haematology conditions supporting and guiding junior staff in the process. Within the busy Oncology/Haematology department the post holder will also assist the senior Sister/Charge Nurses in ensuring that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained. utilising the protocols and treatment plans ensuring the correct guidance is followed. The post holder will act as a positive role model within the department for staff and patients and cares and will participate in the improving quality programme within the trust.

The post holder will be competent in the clinical skills required for a B5 role within Oncology/Haematology Outpatients and will be IV competent and either proficient in or working towards Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment ( SACT). The post holder will have the skills and knowledge to work within the three areas of the outpatient department , on day case, supporting clinics and the anaesthetic procedure list.
