Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist - Autism/LD

Across multiple school sites - Stoke on Trent

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with children and young people with autism and/or learning disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of AAC, social communication approaches, and alternative teaching methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple school sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based speech and language therapy services to children with LD and ASC in specialist education settings.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualised therapy plans in collaboration with school staff and families.
  • Provide direct and indirect interventions, including group and 1:1 therapy, classroom strategies, and training for teaching staff.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) including teachers, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and support staff.
  • Contribute to and attend annual reviews, EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) meetings, and other relevant case conferences.
  • Provide written reports and therapy programmes tailored to individual educational and communication needs.
  • Support the development of total communication environments within the school settings.
