A healthcare provider in the UK is looking for a clinical specialist to support children and young people with Oncology treatment needs. This part-time role involves assessing patient needs, leading care innovation, and collaborating with various healthcare teams to ensure effective treatment delivery and continuity of care. Ideal candidates will have relevant oncology experience and qualifications.
Job summary
To provide clinical, and professional specialist advice and support to CYP and their families across the Trust in relation to supporting Children and Young people with Oncology treatment needs, working across boundaries as required developing and supporting patient centred, seamless care. To be a visible role model and advocate to CYP and nursing team, develop clinical practice standards across the organisation, assuring the provision of safe, effective and evidence-based care nursing services to Children and Young people within our care.
To be a core member of the Paediatric Specialist nursing team and act as a key resource in relation to specialist Oncology care, support, and improvement. Working with the Lead Nurses for Paediatrics to help lead the implementation of key quality improvement projects, in line with best practice and across children services. Working in partnership with Divisional teams and our multi agency partners within Principal treatment centres, West Midlands CYP Cancer Network, Children's Community Nursing team alongside the Multidisciplinary Team that surrounds the CYP, to ensure optimum treatment and continuity of care upon discharge.
This role will become full time and is part of succession planning to ensure seamless care for the CYP.
Main duties of the jobEnsuring that all patients have their needs assessed, that programs of care are developed to meet these needs and are delivered in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
oTo be a competent practitioner, leading innovation and demonstrating clinical expertise.
oTo monitor and work collaboratively in the review of clinical standards and practice within their clinical area, with particular attention paid to the drive for evidence-based practice.
oPlaces quality at the heart of practice by delivering evidence based individualised patient care according to patient's changing health care needs, through holistic needs assessment (HNA).
oUses specialist knowledge and provides specialist advice to ensure effective continuity of care delivery to patients.
oDemonstrates high level clinical, technical and research skills through breadth and depth of knowledge.
oActs as a Keyworker for a clinical caseload of Paediatric oncology patients with Solid and Brain Tumours, working to coordinate care and provide easy access for ongoing support for patients and carers.
oUses advanced communication skills in all aspects of patient assessment, care, and support.
oEnables patients and their families to access, identify, appraise, and interpret information to facilitate patient choice.
oProvides clinical expertise, specialist advice and support across service boundaries ie with CCN and Hospice teams.
