An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic band 6 Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse, to join our dynamic and progressive Paediatric Epilepsy Team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team which provides a comprehensive epilepsy service to children, young people and their families. This team is well established and provides an inpatient and outpatient service across two hospital sites, as well as support in the community. We have links with London hospitals and offer a comprehensive training pathway for children and families to follow ensuring they have care including transition care to adult services.
You will be working with another experienced Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Band 8a. You will be responsible for your own caseload of children based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, running your own clinics once trained and competent. You would be expected to also work at Maidstone Hospital for clinics and as the need arises. You will work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team, including Dietitians, Psychologists, and Consultant Paediatricians. You will attend regular multi-disciplinary team meetings and provide inpatient and community support. Delivering education will be a key aspect of your role and this will include children, families, schools, and inpatient Nurses/Doctors.
You will also be involved in contributing to the epilepsy network groups and you will be required to contribute to service development. Non-medical prescribing would be an advantage; however, we are happy to support the completion of this module for the right candidate.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills and commitment to continuous professional development, who can work autonomously and as part of an inter-disciplinary team with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines without compromising care. Applicants who do not meet the criteria for a band 6 will be considered for a Band 5 training post if no suitable Band 6 applicants apply.
We do support flexible working and there is a free shuttle bus running between hospital sites. If you would like further information or to arrange an informal visit and meet the team, please contact Rochelle Gilder on 07743817218 or via email on: rochellegilder@nhs.net
