This is an exciting opportunity to gain or extend your clinical experience in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery in the supportive environment of Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH). The candidate will spend 6 months at GOSH and the remaining 6 months at RNOH. You will be included in the educational and training activities of the units and will be offered study leave. Clinical research, audit and quality improvement activities will also be encouraged. This post does not attract any on-calls, but there is an opportunity to join the on-call rota if you would like to. Furthermore, although this is not a resident post, there is an opportunity to apply for on-site accommodation to help facilitate a potential move to the area for the successful candidate.

About the employer

RNOH is a national tertiary hospital that provides a comprehensive range of neuro musculoskeletal health care ranging from acute spinal injury and complex bone tumour management to orthopaedic medicine and specialist rehabilitation. There are extensive services for children, which the Trust plans to expand over the coming years. The Paediatric Orthopaedic Service is predominately based on the Stanmore site, with all elective surgery completed onsite at Stanmore. Some outpatient clinics are held at our central London facility on Bolsover Street.

Responsibilities
  • Joint clinics and joint operating sessions in addition to some independent but supervised operating and outpatient sessions.
  • The fellow will be expected to supervise MDT and participate in audit research, and contribute to the general provision of the service within the unit and ensure the smooth running of day-to-day activities of the firm.
  • Participate in educational and training activities and take advantage of study leave opportunities.
  • Clinical research, audit and quality improvement activities will be encouraged.
On-call and accommodation

The fellow will not be required to do on-calls by default, but there is an opportunity to join the on-call rota if desired. There is also an opportunity to apply for on-site accommodation to facilitate relocation if required.
