Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced physiotherapist with a minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience to lead the paediatric physiotherapy haemophilia service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience working as part of a specialized multidisciplinary team delivering outpatient care. Services are provided for children with haemophilia aged 0-16 years across all University Hospitals Dorset Trust sites. We collaborate closely with haemophilia care professionals and are affiliated with Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust as the hub site. We are committed to delivering high-quality, child-friendly services.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and manage the paediatric haemophilia physiotherapy service and caseload, providing advanced assessment, treatment, and advice to patients, including those with complex presentations.
  • Plan and coordinate episodes of care in partnership with the Paediatric Haemophilia Consultant and other specialists to optimize health outcomes.
  • Maintain records as an autonomous practitioner and provide clinical leadership, ensuring standards of practice are met and policies are implemented based on current evidence and best practice.
  • Supervise and teach Therapists and MDT staff across the Southern Haemophilia network regarding therapy practices for children with haemophilia.
  • Work across all UHD sites and undertake quality improvement projects to enhance clinical practice and service development.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Essential: HCPC registration, Physiotherapist BSc(Hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy, postgraduate courses relevant to paediatrics and clinical specialty.
  • Desirable: Recognized postgraduate qualification such as MSc or equivalent experience.

Knowledge

  • Essential: Knowledge of haemophilia pathophysiology and comprehensive patient management.

Experience

  • Essential: Minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience in paediatric MSK/orthopaedics, multidisciplinary team working in NHS, student supervision, and clinical education.
  • Desirable: Experience with research methodology and operational team management, leading change initiatives.
