Job Title: Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric epilepsy nurse specialist to join the tertiary epilepsy service for Children and Young People (0-18 years). The successful post-holder will work autonomously, offering specialist advice, and acting as a source of expertise and knowledge for families and other healthcare professionals. They will play a vital role in the ongoing development of epilepsy services for Children & Young People, working with the lead consultant for epilepsy, driving innovation, and ensuring clinical excellence while participating in audit, research, and data collection.

Working alongside UHS Trust multidisciplinary services, the successful post-holder will have an identified caseload of complex epilepsy patients. They will advocate for best practices, coordinate care, and offer nurse-led services across community, education, transition to adult services, and other relevant external agencies within the wider Wessex region. The post-holder will be supported to develop both personally and professionally within the role, with access to training and education to enhance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Primary responsibility for specialist nursing care for a defined patient group, practicing autonomously as a core team member
  • Act as the key worker for a patient caseload, coordinating therapeutic treatment and care
  • Provide specialist advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
  • Practice clinically in agreed care settings and advise divisions on service management
  • Work across professional and departmental boundaries to develop seamless, patient-centered care, leading nurse-led initiatives
Experience/Skills:
  • Ability to travel between sites for clinic support
  • Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register
  • Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant specialty
