Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust's Children and Young People's Emergency Department seeks a Band 6 deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to lead a skilled paediatric nursing team in a fast-paced trauma-focused setting. You will provide senior clinical leadership, support patient flow, and drive quality improvement.

You will mentor staff, oversee governance and safety, and collaborate with the MDT to improve patient care and experiences while delivering compassionate, evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in paediatric emergency nursing.
• Trauma-trained with skills in IV medications, Entonox, plastering and immobilisation, and ECG.
• Ability to manage deteriorating patients and safeguarding concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical and operational leadership to ensure safe, effective care.
• Mentor, supervise, and develop the nursing workforce in a fast-paced CYPED setting.
• Lead patient flow, triage, and resource allocation to improve waiting times and throughput.
• Oversee governance, safety standards, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
