Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Paediatric Dietitian (Band 6) on a permanent basis, 30 hours per week. You will join a proactive paediatric team of 7 dietitians, 2 dietetic assistants and 1 admin, covering in-patient and community settings across Basingstoke and North Hampshire.

The role involves diabetes care, ward and day unit duties, clinics and cow’s milk protein allergy. Informal chats can be arranged with the Team Lead using the contact details provided.

Qualificações

• BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
• Registered with the HCPC as a dietitian.
• Broad range of dietetic practice including paediatrics is desirable.
• Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Responsabilidades

• Provide a highly specialised nutrition and dietetic service to paediatric patients within the Trust.
• Balance a varied caseload across ward, day unit, outpatient clinics and community settings.
• Advise on use of prescribed special foods and formulas.
• Engage in CPD and supervise students and apprentices.

This post is an exciting opportunity to work within a proactive and dynamic team consisting of 7 paediatric dietitians, 2 dietetic assistants and 1 admin. We are looking to recruit a motivated dietitian who has varied post graduate clinical experience and a strong interest in paediatric dietetics. Applicants with less practice in this field who are highly motivated will also be considered. Teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential for this role.

The post holder will work alongside the paediatric team across the Trust. The clinical remit of this post has a varied and interesting caseload including Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, the paediatric ward and day unit, outpatient clinics and cow’s milk protein allergy.

Main duties of the job

• To work as part of the paediatric dietetic team.
• To provide a highly specialised nutrition and dietetic service to the child health business unit, working at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and in the local community to ensure high standards of care in line with evidence based practice and national guidelines.
• To contribute towards service developments through audit and patient surveys, driving changes that improve patient care.
• To manage and prioritise a delegated caseload.
• To advise medical and nursing staff on the appropriate use of prescriptible specialist food products and formulas.
• To maintain continued professional development and be involved in relevant dietetic special interest groups.
• To participate in the training of student dietitians & apprentices.

The Dietetic Department at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is friendly department of around 25 staff spread across 2 main sites (Basingstoke and Winchester); with satellite sites at Alton Community Hospital, Andover War Memorial Hospital and local GP surgeries.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work alongside a team of specialist paediatric dietitians across the Trust. They
will be based across both Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Royal Hampshire County
Hospital, providing a service to the paediatric ward, day unit and outpatient department. Off site
clinics may be located at Alton community Hospital, Andover War Memorial Hospital and GP
surgeries. You may be required to offer/attend home visits to our diabetes cohort.
The post holder will have a varied clinical caseload of general paediatrics and diabetes.

• BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
• Registered with the HCPC as a dietitian

Desirable criteria

• post gradute qualification in paediatrics

Experience

Essential criteria

• Broad range of clinical dietetic experience including some in paediatrics

• Experience of paediatrics
• Experience with Gastroenterology or Oncology
