Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking an experienced Paediatric Dental Nurse to support insourcing surgical lists in Southampton, delivering chairside and clerical support to dentists and oral/maxillofacial surgeons while ensuring safe, high‑quality care for paediatric patients.

You will prepare patients and rooms, uphold infection prevention standards, assist with extractions and oral surgery, provide pre- and post‑operative support, and work within a multidisciplinary clinical team to help NHS waiting

Qualifications

• GDC registered Dental Nurse with a relevant qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
• Recent NHS Dental Nursing experience, including 12 months in a substantive NHS role.
• Hands-on experience in oral surgery and/or tooth extractions.
• Experience in dental, oral surgery or maxillofacial settings.
• Good infection prevention and control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside and clerical support to dentists, oral surgeons and clinical teams.
• Assist with dental extractions, oral surgery and clinical procedures.
• Prepare patients, clinical rooms, equipment and instruments for treatment.
• Provide patient reassurance and pre- and post-operative support.
• Maintain high standards of infection control, clinical safety and patient confidentiality.
