Job summary

Routes Healthcare in Doncaster is seeking an experienced Complex Care Assistant to support a paediatric client with complex healthcare needs. You will provide compassionate, safe, and person-centred care across home and school environments, including overnight and day shifts.

Full specialist training will be provided to manage clinical needs and daily routines, ensuring wellbeing and engagement. The role requires experience with non-verbal communication, tube feeding, Port-a-Cath care, and

Qualifications

Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship.
Experience supporting children with complex healthcare needs.
Experience with non-verbal individuals and understanding communication through behaviour.
Experience supporting individuals with epilepsy and behaviours that may challenge.
Confident with tube feeding and following clinical care plans.
Knowledge of seizure management and epilepsy protocols.
Calm, patient, and playful approach to care.
Able to work day and overnight shifts.
Experience in home and school environments.
Reliable and professional in care delivery.

Responsibilities

Deliver person-centred care tailored to the client's individual needs.
Support with jejunostomy tube feeding and management of a gastric drain.
Monitor and care for a Port-a-Cath.
Follow epilepsy and seizure management protocols.
Follow sepsis protocols and escalate concerns appropriately.
Provide full personal care, including continence support.
Accurately document care provided and clinical observations.
Build a trusting relationship and understand the client's communication through behaviours.
Work collaboratively with family members, school staff, and healthcare professionals.
