Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Children's Community Nurse to join the team on a fixed term 12-month basis. The post involves delivering care to children and young people in the home and community settings, with a focus on safe discharge and family empowerment.

The role requires strong communication, experience with IV therapy, venepuncture, enteral feeding device care and tracheostomy care, and includes working with MDTs and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive induction and competency programme is offered.
• Prior competency evidence in IV therapy, venepuncture/blood sampling, enteral feeding device care, tracheostomy care and medical devices is considered useful.

Responsabilités

• Clinical care and treatments of children and young people as part of the Children’s community nursing team.
• Effective assessment of health needs and development of individual care plans.
• Undertaking home IVs, administration of IM medication and venepuncture.
• Wound care and management; dressings and involvement with tissue viability leads.
• Attend MDT meetings to enable early discharge and complex discharge planning at home.
• Safeguarding children is central; support vulnerable children and families and referrals.
• Work with children with acute and complex needs, supporting short episodes of care and long-term conditions.
• Support virtual ward referrals to enable early discharge.
• Training and education of parents, families and school staff.
