Job summary

The Galaxy Paediatric nursing team forms part of the Integrated Childrens services at Barnet Hospital and is part of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust.

The post holder will provide care with minimal supervision as part of the Galaxy Nursing Team, delivering evidence-based nursing care to children and their families, and supporting students under the supervision of the senior team. Collaboration with MDTs and other agencies will ensure a seamless service.

Responsibilities

• To work as part of the Childrens Nursing Team, being directed by the team leader / band 6 in prioritising day to day work and in managing case load.
• To perform health care assistant procedures to a high standard in accordance with the Royal Free Clinical Practise Guidelines and policies.
• To be competent in the recognition and management of life-threatening emergencies in children and be able to escalte accordingly.
• To participate in child protection procedures including attendance at case conferences with the team leader / band 6.
• To be responsible for highlighting and identification of child protection concerns to the team leader/ child protection lead and escalating concerns through child protection procedures.
