Job description

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a leading Cancer Hospital in London. The Occupational Therapy Department is recruiting for a full-time, Band 7 role at our Sutton hospital, which attracts outer London weighting. The role involves working across Paediatrics and Teenagers and Young Adults.

You will join a supportive team of qualified Occupational Therapists in an acute setting, supporting children, teenagers, and young adults undergoing cancer treatment. The role offers excellent CPD opportunities, support for study leave, onsite parking, and staff benefits via Vivup.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Autonomously provide complex clinical assessment in ward and outpatient settings, addressing biomechanical, sensory, psychological, cognitive, perceptual, and interpersonal deficits in individuals with cancer, their families, and carers, using advanced clinical reasoning.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic rehabilitation programs tailored to patient needs, based on activity analysis and a client-centered, problem-solving approach.
  • Lead in planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services, acting as a knowledge resource for patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Supervise and oversee the professional development of Band 6 Occupational Therapists. Participate in educational programs for hospital staff and externally.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement treatment and educational groups for patients with cancer and their carers, such as Health & Well Being groups.
  • Take a leadership role in advanced areas of Occupational Therapy practice in oncology and palliative care, providing consultation resources for UK-based therapists.
