This position is based at our manufacturing site in Banbury.

Job Description

The Shift Lead is a key part of the 24-hour manufacturing operation in Banbury. Responsible for leading, coaching, empowering, and developing their team, they will ensure the team delivers sustainable results across the packaging section.

With responsibility and accountability for Safety, Quality, Performance (SQCDSM), and continuous improvement, the Shift Lead will promote safety and quality through behavioral development, fostering a culture of high action orientation, results-driven mindset, and continuous improvement.

The Packing Shift Lead is committed to putting people at the center of the operation. Key Areas of Ownership
  • Safety, Hygiene, Environment, Energy, Quality, and Food Safety
  • Applying established standard processes and procedures
  • Ensuring the recovery of near misses and implementing corrective actions
  • Analyzing safety incidents immediately and implementing short-term corrective measures
  • Providing feedback and following up on process improvement actions or equipment issues
  • Achieving operational targets
  • Contributing to the production schedule with the scheduler
  • Ensuring the updating of OPS boards
  • Promoting continuous improvement through feedback and follow-up actions
  • Developing associates through PDP (70:20:10 model, etc.)
  • Creating an environment that encourages team commitment (impact sessions, Gallup action plans, etc.)
  • Anticipating future skills needs and making recommendations
  • Managing team staffing and attendance in line with standards
  • Coaching team members daily on operational and personal development topics
  • Providing quality feedback within the team
Qualifications
  • Experience in developing teams and building leadership capabilities
  • Strong communication skills across all levels and effective facilitation and meeting management abilities
  • Proficiency with LEAN tools such as VSM, SMED, KAIZEN to improve manufacturing processes
  • Ability to build relationships across functions to achieve results
  • Degree-level education or equivalent intellectual capability
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing or supply chain, preferably within an FMCG environment
