Job summary

Company Shop Group is seeking a Packing Room Operative in Darton, Barnsley, to join our warehouse team. You will operate packing machinery, ensure allergen controls, and maintain quality and weight accuracy across ambient, chilled, and frozen products.

The role requires strict adherence to GMP and food safety procedures, with potential freezer work and occasional support across warehouse activities. Hours are 40/week, £12.75/hour.

Qualifications

• Experience in an operational environment and ability to follow procedures.
• Level 2 food safety qualification or equivalent.
• Comfortable working in a cold store and high-risk environment.
• Ability to use warehouse systems and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Operate packing machinery (flow wrappers, baggers, weighers) safely and efficiently.
• Maintain allergen controls and weight accuracy during production.
• Set up, adjust, and clean equipment according to SOPs.
• Meet packing targets and ensure correct presentation of products.
• Support test changes and flexibility across packing lines.
