Role Overview:

As the Packhouse Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of a busy vegetable packhouse, leading a team of approximately 30 staff to ensure efficient, safe, and quality packing and dispatch aligned with retailer standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage packing and dispatch of fresh produce to major retailers
• Lead, train, and supervise a team of around 30 staff across multiple shifts
• Maintain quality standards, food safety, and customer specifications
• Coordinate with harvest and logistics teams to align schedules
• Manage stock of packaging materials and consumables
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations (including BRC, Red Tractor, HACCP)
• Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, and product quality
• Maintain accurate records for traceability and compliance
• Foster a positive and safety-conscious work environment
• Report on packhouse performance to senior management

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience managing or supervising in a fresh produce or food packing environment
• Knowledge of brassica crops or similar produce
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Strong organizational and communication abilities
• Experience with UK retail standards and specifications
• Proactive problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and compliance focus
• IT literacy
• Understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations
