Location: Hybrid, Sunderland (4 days per week in office)

Hours: 40 per week, Monday - Friday

Position:

As Packaging Technologist, you will be responsible for development, testing, and optimization of packaging solutions across Curaleaf International. You will collaborate with packaging suppliers and internal teams globally to ensure that all packaging systems meet the product and regulatory requirements of each region.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Designing and developing packaging solutions for new product.
  • Continuously reviewing and evaluating current packaging materials, optimising for sustainability as well as for volume and cost sharing.
  • Conducting compatibility, stability, and transportation studies.
  • Generating, maintaining, and presenting relevant data and documentation.
  • Leading or supporting packaging line trials, ensuring packaging formats are suitable for scale-up and manufacturing practices, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including cost-optimisation, sustainability efforts, and new packaging technologies.

Requirements:

This is a brand new role created by company growth, so it is essential you are ready to share and implement ideas, collaborate company-wide, and work flexibly to tackle any issues that may arise as you tread a fresh path.

It is essential you have:

  • Proven experience in developing, validating, and implementing all levels of packaging, holding responsibility for the full process from idea to market.
  • A strong track record of supporting NPIs, including packaging selection, design, testing, and any relevant regulatory documentation.
  • Good knowledge of GMP and regulatory frameworks applicable to packaging in Europe.
  • Working knowledge of material science, barrier properties, and tamper-evident technologies.
  • Ability to drive innovation and consistency.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, regulated industry, such as pharmaceuticals, food, or cosmetics.

Although not essential, it would be beneficial to have:

  • Knowledge of GMP and regulatory frameworks globally.
  • Use of at least one other European language.
