Job summary

The Fresh Produce Centre Ltd. in Paddock Wood, Kent, seeks an experienced Packaging Manager to lead the packaging function for FreshPLUS and Thanet Earth.

You will source packaging materials, labels and indirect goods while balancing quality, cost and service, and manage stock, forecasts and SAP indices. You will supervise the packaging store, operatives and box-making operation, ensuring adequate staffing, training and safe, efficient order fulfilment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Packaging, procurement or supply-chain experience in food, FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong stock-control, forecasting, purchasing and SAP/ERP skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, traceability and BRC audits.
• Experience leading and developing staff in a fast-paced operation.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Packaging Manager. Based in Paddock Wood and reporting to the Head of QA, Technical and Packaging, this is an excellent opportunity to join a leading fresh produce business. You will lead the packaging function for FreshPLUS and Thanet Earth Paddock Wood.

You will source packaging, labels and indirect goods, balancing quality, cost and service while ensuring materials are available for production.

Leading the packaging store, operatives and box-making operation, you will manage performance, motivate the team and ensure it is adequately staffed and appropriately trained to achieve work objectives—while maintaining safe, efficient order fulfilment.

Working within a fast-paced fresh produce environment, you will control stock and valuations, review forecasts, place orders, manage replenishment and obsolete stock, and maintain accurate SAP material codes—preventing downtime and shortages.

You will also maintain packaging approvals, traceability and BRC compliance, manage supplier and equipment issues, and identify sustainable cost savings.

Our ideal Packaging Manager will have:

• Packaging, procurement or supply-chain experience in food, FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong stock-control, forecasting, purchasing and SAP/ERP skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, traceability and BRC audits.
• Experience leading and developing staff in a fast-paced operation.
• Strong planning, numerical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, commercially aware and safety-focused approach.

The hours you would work:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7.30 am – 4.30 pm
