Job summary

BW Packaging is seeking a time-served Mechanical Assembly Engineer to join our Doncaster team. You will ensure equipment and machinery are assembled to a high standard, in line with timelines and quality expectations, while promoting an exceptional customer experience and continuous improvement.

You will read drawings, assemble components, and work safely with appropriate PPE. The role involves supporting apprentices and other team members, maintaining clean work areas, and occasional overtime

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in mechanical assembly, ideally in the packaging industry.
• Education in a relevant engineering discipline, Advanced NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Apprenticeship.
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
• A self-starter with a ‘can do’ flexible attitude.
• Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
• Drive and determination to succeed.
• Possess appropriate hand tools

Responsibilities

• Comply with Health & Safety regulations and BWIS policies.
• Read and analyse assembly drawings, BOMs and specs to plan builds.
• Fit and assemble components using correct tools and methods.
• Form/fix pneumatic lines, fixtures and components for serviceability.
• Report build and documentation issues to leadership.
• Sign off torque/quality checks on fasteners.”
• Dismantle equipment and assist with packing/loading as needed.
• Provide guidance to apprentices and team members to raise skills.
• Keep work areas clean and hazard-free; support overtime when needed.
