Job description

The Packaging Designer is responsible for the conceptual creation and development of packaging artworks for Frasers Group's own-brand categories for Sports Direct. They will understand manufacturing processes, production methods, and materials, and must manage a diverse workload while ensuring the highest standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Designing and creating artworks for all consumer packaging.
  • Ensuring artworks are suitable for packaging production, leveraging expertise in manufacturing processes.
  • Maintaining brand integrity throughout the design process.
  • Working consistently at a high level in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Skills & Expertise:

  • Communicating and discussing designs with colleagues and managers.
  • Knowledge of printing standards, colour proofing, and consistency.
  • Understanding packaging costs to meet specifications within budget.
  • Knowledge of materials and production methods.
  • Creative design approach that aligns with brand guidelines and effectively communicates the product brand to end users.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a design discipline, preferably in packaging or graphic design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop); experience with Ai is a plus.
  • Ability to generate ideas and concepts around product packaging briefs.
  • Experience creating cohesive packaging for various brands following brand guidelines.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and finishings.
  • Experience working with factories and managing end-to-end processes from artwork to execution.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to suggest improvements.
  • Project management experience with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Understanding of sustainability regulations and managing large SKUs volumes.
