About the Company

ABP UK is a major division of the ABP Food Group with factories in Ireland, UK, and Europe. We are a food business specializing in the supply and development of award-winning British and Irish beef and lamb products for retail, foodservice, and wholesale.

Role Definition

The Packaging and Ingredients Buyer will ensure the retail site is supplied efficiently by developing relationships with suppliers and managing stock control. Key focus areas include:

  • Quality, cost control, yield, and utilization
  • Health, safety, and ethics
  • Product safety, authenticity, and integrity
  • Labeling and compliance with company, personal, and food hygiene rules and legislations

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage stock of dry goods and packing materials to meet site requirements, monitoring orders daily and weekly.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to secure strategic links for sales and purchasing.
  • Maximize profit and ensure all retail requirements are met.
  • Reconcile daily stocks, monitor overstocks and shortages, and prevent obsolescence.
  • Coordinate the intake of dry goods from suppliers and produce daily delivery schedules.
  • Develop delivery adherence reports to evaluate supplier performance.
  • Monitor forecasts, place orders, chase outstanding POs, and resolve daily issues.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, internal departments, and suppliers.
  • Complete all reporting paperwork promptly.
  • Follow personal training plans and provide interdepartmental cover when needed.
  • Attend meetings as required, operate according to company practices, and perform additional duties as assigned.
