NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department seeks a Package Manager – Waste Engineering to lead waste engineering activities on decommissioning packages, in a hybrid Culham-based role reporting to the Head of Waste and Material Processing. This contract position requires BPSS basic clearance, familiarity with regulatory permits, CDM/IRR17 and waste characterisation.

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.
The role is accountable to the Head of Waste and Material Processing and acts as the waste engineering lead for assigned decommissioning packages, such as facilities, process systems or major plant items, ensuring that waste management requirements are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.
Principal Accountabilities:
Qualifications:Degree (BSc, MSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science or other relevant scientific or technical discipline. Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist or equivalent professional recognition, or demonstrable experience performing a comparable role within the nuclear or other highly regulated industry. Demonstrable knowledge of radioactive waste management and waste characterisation principles. Familiarity with the application of IRR17, EPR 2016 and CDM Regulations 2015 and their implementation within construction, decommissioning or engineering projects. Formal health and safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent) are desirable.
Experience:Demonstrable experience delivering waste management activities within nuclear decommissioning, waste management or other highly regulated industries. Experience planning and delivering waste characterisation campaigns, including development of DQOs, WSAPs, sampling campaigns and characterisation reports. Experience developing waste management strategies, waste route assessments and waste disposition plans. Experience supporting or delivering building clearance, deplanting, decommissioning or facility clean-out projects. Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams including engineering, operations, Health Physics, environmental and project management disciplines. Experience coordinating contractors, specialist suppliers, laboratories and technical support organisations. Experience developing technical documentation, specifications, work packages and engineering reports. Experience managing technical risks, identifying solutions and resolving delivery issues within complex projects. Experience supervising, mentoring or directing graduates, apprentices or junior technical personnel. Experience engaging with waste disposal facilities, treatment providers, regulators and external stakeholders is desirable. Experience working on fusion, nuclear, radiological or hazardous waste projects is desirable.
