About the role

Balfour Beatty has an amazing opportunity for a Package Manager to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London.

HS2's new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK's best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

As a Package Manager, you will be responsible for the management of the subcontractor for the high-speed station box reinforced concrete structure and its interfaces with other work packages - MEP, Fit Out, Urban Realm.

Supporting the Package Lead / Section Managers in successful project execution including planning, design, delivery, and handover/close out providing management and leadership to inspire a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal.

What you'll be doing

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Review specifications & drawings, as well as documents prepared by the subcontractor (ITP, RAMS)
  2. Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System
  3. Support continuous improvement, and ensure subcontractor complies with the H&S & environment requirements
  4. Develop/monitor/report against resource allocation plans in line with scope and outputs
  5. Help to ensure procurement plans and schedules are aligned with the overall project plans
  6. Ensure assurance activities/audits are undertaken, recorded and actioned

Who we're looking for

  1. Experience working on a variety of project types including those with rail interfaces and multiple complex subcontract packages.
  2. Relevant experience in civils projects, particularly reinforced concrete, MEP, fit out.
  3. Holds or working towards a formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction/engineering or equivalent.
  4. CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent.
  5. Experience in implementing safe systems of work, managing risks and change processes.
  6. Experience in temporary works design, management, and installation.
